For years, the Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) was a nemesis bird for the majority of Athenian birders. The very few birds recorded were either shy or stayed for a brief period of time and birds were either immature or had worn, post-breeding plumage.
This all changed, however, last week when a striking male was found at Vravrona Wetland, on March 10th 2024; not only did it expose itself easily, it also started singing, something noone had ever experienced before.
