Olive-tree Pipits (Anthus hodgsoni), a new record for Greece
Another addition to Greece's avian records emerges with the recent sighting of Olive-backed Pipit (Anthus hodgsoni), following the recent discovery of the Sabine's Gull (Kerkini, October 2nd) and the Eastern Yellow Wagtail (Schinias, Attica, December 29th).
This time, two individuals of the Olive-tree Pipit were observed for the first time in our country, in a forest in Ioannina on February 2nd. Naturally, the news spread instantly, so the team of Greece Bird Tours run for this challenging twitch.
As birdwatchers, bird photographers and birding tours continue to increase in number, so too will the list of bird species observed in Greece expand.
