Herping in Athens, March 2023

Herping (finding herps, i.e. reptiles and amphibians) is part of our wildlife watching during our birding trips

March is the first month of spring, and as soon as the temperature rises more than 15-16 degrees celcius, the reptiles (snakes, lizards, turtles) and amphibians start to be more active. During our birding trips we often encounter all types of wildlife, as Athens has still quite a lot of unspoiled habitats. Some of our visitors are herp lovers, seeking to see some of the interesting herpetofauna of Greece. In such cases, we organize the herping trip in such way, in order to find and photograph these beautiful animals in their natural environment.
