A Razorbill (Alca torda), first record for Greece, was observed at Kyparissia, Western Peloponnese on No 26th 2022
The last week of November, a severe thundrestorm in Italy pushed a lot of bird species towards Greece. Along with them, a penguin-like bird, which was never seen here before. A striking Razorbill (Alca torda) was carelessly enjoying the calm water of the little port of Kyparissia, a town in Western Peloponnese. Social media between greek birders were set on fire, thus from the next day, dozens of birdwatchers and photographers travelled from all over the country, hoping to see the vagrant bird.
They were all lucky, since the bird is still staying there and anyone can easily observe it from close range!
