VENT (Victor Emmanuel Nature Tours) is the largest company in the world specializing in birding tours. Every year, they organize tours to over 100 destinations around the globe.
It is no surprise that Greece is included in VENT destinations as it is a perfect country for those who want to enjoy birding, history and culture.
For the third time, we were honoured to be the local guides for the Athenian pre-trip (as the main cruise would circumnavigate the Peloponnese).
From May 14th to May 16th we visited most of the birding hotspots around Athens (Mt Hymettus, Schinias National Park, Spata Field, Vravrona Wetland and Cape Sounio). May interesting species were seen; local specialties like the Ruppell's Warbler and the Ferruginous Duck, birds of prey like the Short-toed Eagle, the Lesser Kestrel and the Tawny Owl, some of the most beautiful birds of the area like the Penduline Tit, the Black-headed Bunting, the Cirl Bunting and many more.
We would like to thank from the bottom of our heart Victor Emmanuel and Barry Zimmer for choosing us to be his local guides. We feel very privileged to be partners and, most of all, friends with such amazing persons. We are really looking forward to seeing him again in VENT's next trip to Greece!
