"Octoberfest" in Athens!

October is usually not so active in terms of birdwatching, as migration is almost at its end. Nevertheless, the weather was great, predisposing birdwatchers, like me,  to get out as frequently as possible! I was rewarded with great views of many species like Short-toed Eagle, Spanish Sparrow and Chukar.

Chukars are always a nice bird to see, especially when seen at close distance

This Short-toed Eagle was flying really low, giving great views of the plumage

Large flocks of Spanish Sparrows arrive in mid October. Some will overwinter, but the majority will head to the south
