Savi's Warbler is one of the least known birds of Greece. Despite the fact that it is breeding in several sites of Northern Greece, there are very few records and most birdwatchers looking for it return empty-handed. Ringing data show that it is fairly common in autumn passage, yet it is even more difficult to see it then as most of the birds are juveniles, having no intention to reveal themselves.
That's why I was very surprised to see one coming towards me, while I was checking the small reedbed of Loutsa Lagoon. This very small wetland is very importan for waders in autumn as ithe water levels have drop enough to allow foraging for invertebrates.
