The first good passage of waders has been recorded. Most interesting records are the group of 12 Red Knots, the Greater Sand Plover and the Bar-tailed Godwits, all found in a small strip of sand, in the tidal zone of the lagoon. Numerous were also the breeding Little and Common Terns, Black-winged Stints and Redshanks, along with hundreds of Little Egrets. Flocks of up to 300 Sand Martins were gathering in the wires, while the odd Rufous-tailed Bushchat could be seen in the coastal tamarisk zone. A good 50 species were seen in a couple of hours!
Red Knots are regular but rare sightings during fall migration
Caspian Terns are seen in small numbers year-round
The Little Tern is nesting in good numbers, being the commonest breeding Tern.
