Cool trip in hot Athens...

Mt Parnitha is the highest mountain near Athens (1,413 m.) and as such, has a cooler climate, especially in the mid-summer. When temperatures rise up to 38 C in Athens, the Greek Fir covered slopes have at least ten degrees less, making hikes much more relaxing. Furthermore, July is great for reptiles, while all the typical conifer forest trees of southern Greece can be found.

Balkan Green Lizards are very common and widespread

Red Deer are also very common and quite easy to see

Chiffchaff is a rare summer visitor, usually found in northern Greece
