This was the first year to run EuroBirdWatch at Vravrona Wetland. Hundreds of people visited the information kiosk, while guided tours around the area presented the beauty and importance of this small but very valuable wetland near Athens. At the end, injured birds of prey (including Short-toed Eagle, Eleonora's Falcon and Montagu's Harrier), that were send to ANIMA organization for treatment, were released, a spectacle never seen before for many of the participants.

A Coot was feeding right out in the open, even though more than 40 people
were watching it from a distance of no more than 5 meters! |
|
A second away before this Short-toed Eagle flies back to freedom!

|
This Montagu's Harrier was the only bird that made a full circle before flying away
