Perching Wagtail, an unusual sight
January 09, 2011
Grey Wagtails are one of those species that you expect to see on the ground, chasing insects while "wagging" their tails. However, they do use tree branches some times, especially when found in parks during winter. Lycabettus hill in the center of Athens holds a good wintering population and birds are frequently seen perching in trees. Of course, ground is their favorite terrain!
