Lesser Kestrels Falco naumanni- Κιρκινέζι, are migrant falcons found usually near agricultural areas. Their population has decreased dramatically in the last decades, and they are now classified as Vulnerable in the Greek Red Data Book. They're most common in the plains of Thessaly, Central Greece. However, a small population has been found in Lake Dystos, in the island of Evoia. It is still unclear whether they nest in houses or they prefer natural nest sites, and their population is small (10-15 pairs maximum). The habitat is very suitable, therefore we hope that this population will increase and expand!
