Egyptian Vultures (Neophron percnopterus) - Ασπροπάρης are the only migrant vultures in Greece and soon they may become the rarest... Breeding populations have crashed from 140 to no more than 30-50 pairs in the last 10 years. The cause of this large decline is the use of poisoned baits, an illegal act still practiced widely in Greece. One of the few places that this endangered raptor can be still seen is the Dadia Forest in Evros Prefecture, home to many other rare birds of prey like the Black Vulture, Golden Eagle, Sea Eagle, etc.
