Bonelli's Eagle (Hierraetus fasciatus) - Σπιζαετός is a rare bird of prey, with no more than 140 pairs nesting, most of them in insular Greece, including Crete. Attica still holds 1 breeding pair, and every chick raised is a chance for a better future for this not so well known bird. This spring, a juvenile seen for a few weeks in Schinias National Park has raised hopes that someday this eagle may become a commoner sight. We wish this young fellow all the best!
