The Grey-headed Woodpecker (Picus canus) - Σταχτής Δρυοκολάπτης is one of the least common woodpeckers in Greece. It's usually found in montane forests, however it seems that it's doing pretty well in lowland forests, as long as there are plenty of grown trees for nesting. This male was seen very close to the estuary of Nestos River.
