Once widespread and common, the Jackal is now rare and threatened with extinction. Few isolated families in the Peloponnese and Central Greece remain, while in Northern Greece there are still areas with good populations. One of these is the Nestos Delta, where this young jackal was seen a few minutes after sunset.
