Athens is not known for its parks and nature reserves, however there's a place that has become a "must" for birdwatchers visiting Greece's capital. The Tritsis Environmental Park is located in the NW suburbs of Athens, and so far more than 160 species of birds have been observed. The Little Grebe is a resident, with few pairs nesting in the dense reedbeds that have formed in the freshwater lakes.
