After the great wildfire that burned more than 6,000 ha of pine and fir woodland, members of the HOS initiated a large-scale bird census, to record the effects of the fire in the avian population. During the first census, this adult Honey Buzzard was seen soaring high above us, in a forest tract that remained intact. Honey Buzzard were not previously recorded as summer visitors in Mt Parnitha, they were only seen during spring and autumn migration.
